Seat selection can be a great way to upgrade your travel experience in American Airlines. Selections of aisle, window, and extra legroom seats are pretty easy to do in American Airlines.
Here's how you can easily pick your seat when flying with American Airlines:
1. During Booking
The easiest time to get your preferred seat is at the booking stage. When you do booking of American Airlines tickets, whether on their website or through their mobile application, it will ask you to choose a seat. You will then be taken to a seat map showing selections available, in various categories such as standard seats, Main Cabin Extra, or Preferred seats. Simply click on the seat of your choice, and it will be added to your reservation. Note that some seats, depending on the class or legroom availability, may come at an extra cost.
2. Post-Booking
If you hadn't selected your seat when booking, you can do so outside of the booking process. All you need to do is log in, go to "My Trips" on American Airlines website or app, select your trip, and click "View/Change" to get to the seat map and select your seat.
3. Check-in
If you don't want to pay for seat selection or simply forget, American Airlines will reserve one for you upon check-in. You can check in 24 hours prior to flight time and, if available, change the assigned seat for free. However, options are smaller, especially if the plane is full.
4. AAdvantage Members
Complimentary seat selection, including Preferred seats or Main Cabin Extra, may apply if you have AAdvantage elite status. If applicable, log into your account before selecting a seat to verify any perks you may be entitled to.
This is the only way to have the seat of your preference and actually travel in style and comfort. Learn more about American Airlines seat selection policy and seat assignment by visiting their website or official mobile application.
