Valmet has unveiled the Valmet Polymer Concentration Measurement (Valmet PCM), the first advanced optical inline polymer measurement system designed for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment as well as pulp and paper processes. This innovative system provides real-time, continuous polymer concentration data, enabling enhanced process optimization. Benefits include more precise polymer dosing, reduced polymer usage, quicker responses to process disturbances, and more.
Accurate polymer level monitoring allows facilities to significantly decrease polymer consumption through precise preparation and dosing. Consistent polymer concentration improves flocculation, clarification, dewatering, and other critical processes. This leads to energy savings and reduced sludge transport and incineration, enhancing the environmental and social impacts of efficient wastewater treatment.
In paper and board processes, chemicals such as polymers are added to improve the retention of fine particles and fillers during web formation. Accurate polymer concentration information helps optimize wet-end retention and increase process efficiency.
Proven Optical Measurement Technology
Valmet PCM leverages decades of Valmet’s optical measurement expertise in board and paper processes. The technology in Valmet PCM ensures industrial-grade quality and reliability for wastewater treatment.
Despite its compact probe design, the optics maximize measurement volume. With more optical channels to collect scattered and reflected light, the probe provides six times more information compared to conventional solutions, enhancing performance.
Integrated Cleaning for Easy Maintenance
To address probe contamination in wastewater applications, Valmet has developed an automatic flushing system to keep the Valmet PCM probe clean and measurements stable. The integrated sensor probe flushing unit also includes support for a manual lab sampling valve.
