Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities
Eight terrifying tales are being conjured by Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro as if one terrifying tale wasn't enough. Eight directors, personally chosen by director Guillermo del Toro, tackle spooky stories with a cast of famous people in an anthology horror series. Characters in del Toro's unsettling universe, ranging from a small-town sheriff looking into a horrific series of missing people cases to a cemetery caretaker living a second life as a grave robber, are venturing into the unknown and appealing to our deepest fears.
In the Tall Grass
This is yet another Stephen King adaptation, but this time Joe Hill, the author's son, is involved. In the Tall Grass, one of King's less well-known tales, follows a brother and sister as they go into a field after hearing a small kid cry out for assistance. Eventually, they understand that there might not be a way out. Along with being full of surprises, the movie has one of King's most powerful endings ever.
It Follows
It Follows, arguably one of the most inventive horror movies of the past ten years, is a hit at movie screenings. In the movie, there's a deadly thing that follows you till your death after it has sexually transmitted itself to you. After that, you repeat the process with the individual who gave you "it." (You read that correctly.) It Follows does a fantastic job, with one of the most bizarre ideas ever shown on screen. This movie, which draws inspiration from John Carpenter productions like Halloween, is undoubtedly one of the scariest things you've ever seen. The soundtrack is also nothing short of a masterpiece.
Jaws
It's hardly surprising that Steven Spielberg's 1975 thriller has become a cultural phenomenon because it's every bit as suspenseful as its well-known theme music. A police chief, an oceanographer, and a shark hunter must locate the ferocious great white shark before it wreaks havoc on the picturesque seaside community of Amity Island after the remains of a young woman wash up on the shore. However, now that summer is here, beachgoers will continue to cool off in the sea. Before it's too late, can the three of them destroy this terrible ocean beast?
Ma
Make sure that Ma doesn't drink by herself at all. The title character, played by Octavia Spencer, is a lonely middle-aged woman who becomes friends with some local teenagers. By letting them party and drink in her basement, she suddenly gains her cool card, and before long, Ma's house is the town's most popular hangout. When the teenagers witness Ma's increasingly insane conduct, the celebration takes a dark turn, and her basement turns into their worst nightmare.
