Haryana is an Indian state that is located in the northern portion of the nation. It was formed from the province of East Punjab on 1 November 1966 on the basis of linguistics. It is ranked 21st in terms of land area, having less than 1.4 percent (44,212 km2 or 17.070 sq miles) of India's land. The capital of the state is Chandigarh which is part of the neighboring state of Punjab and the largest city in the state is Faridabad which is a component of the National Capital Region.
