In 1955, Tadoba National Park in Maharashtra, which covers an area of 116.54 sq km, was designated as a national park. The Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary was built near Tadoba National Park in 1986.The Tiger Reserve covers a land area of 1,727 square kilometres. According to the National Census, there were 43 tigers in 2010 in Tadoba Tiger Reserve. Local tribal people worship the god Tadoba.

The southern tropical dry deciduous vegetation of the Tadoba forest covers an area of roughly 626 km2. Teak, Ain, Bija, Dhauda, Hald, Salai, Semal, Tendu, Behera, Karda Gum, Mahua Madhuka, make up more than one-third of the park's tree cover. A wide variety of medicinal plants, climbers, and lush green meadows are also scattered throughout the national park.

According to the 2018 tiger census, Tadoba National Park, Maharashtra's largest wildlife sanctuary, is residence to 88 tigers, as well as Indian leopards, sloth bears, gaurs, nilgai, dholes, striped hyenas, small Indian civets, and barking deer. In addition, it is habitat for a variety of other species, including deer, chital, wild cats, and sambar. In addition to the fauna, the park is home to 74 different butterfly species and over 195 different bird species. Along with different reptiles, the park is also home to Indian pythons and swamp crocodiles.
