During today's Nintendo Direct session, the most noteworthy announcement was the release date of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, a new 2D Mario game for the Switch, set for October 20th.

At first glance, the stunning clip depicts what appears to be a fairly standard platformer in the vein of the New Super Mario Bros., with an overworld map and four-player cooperative gameplay (it appears that Peach, Daisy, Luigi, and Toad are all playable characters).
Everything goes a little bit haywire as Mario gets his hands on a new power-up. The pipes begin to tremble, a flock of sheep appears, and Mario transforms into an elephant—it's almost as if he ingested some LSD. You might want to cut back on the mushrooms a bit, Mario.

It appears to be a lot of fun, like updated mario games with some unique twists and a fantastic art design. I adore the trailer's vivacious, dynamic approach.
