who's been setting records in the world

We've seen a few Elden Ring speedruns already, with folks doing things like winning the game without ever dying a single second in Lands Between, among other challenge runs. But someone who's been setting records in the world for running the latest Souls-like from Elden Ring Runes FromSoftware in the fastest speed possible has returned with a brand new high score.

YouTuber and noted Souls speedrunner Distortion2 posted another video of their record-breaking completion duration of 18 hours and 56 seconds. It's crazy! In the latest game, Distortion2 employed an exploit that breaks the rules of gaming called "The Zip"," that teleports your Tarnished around the map, letting you avoid entire sections that are part of the game. According to various threads on the community from Reddit to YouTube it's a challenge to nail the glitch's timing. In order to do The Zip, you're supposed to keep your eyes on and advance at specific times that make it difficult to do without any regularity. There are some automatic hot keys that you can utilize to make The Zip a bit easier, but those seem to be only for PC users.

In addition to making frequent usage of The Zip exploit--like employing it to skip from the first Site of Grace to Stormhill's Stormgate in between two and three seconds, the remainder of Distortion2's run is pretty familiar to anyone who's either been playing Elden Ring or watched any of Elden Ring Runes for sale the numerous insane speedruns.
